Myth vs fact
What you've been told vs what research shows
Your elders mean well. Some of this advice is simply decades old.
"Start at 4 months so the baby gets used to food."
Most babies show developmental readiness between 5–6 months. Signs matter more than the calendar.
"Give rice water or diluted dal first — it's light."
Current guidelines favour single-ingredient whole foods over diluted liquids for better nutrition.
"Avoid eggs and nuts early — they'll cause allergies."
Research now points to early, appropriate introduction of allergens. Delaying may increase risk.
"A little salt makes the food taste better for the baby."
Guidelines recommend no added salt or sugar before 12 months, while kidneys are still developing.
"If the baby pushes food out, they don't like it."
The tongue-thrust reflex is normal early on. It can take 10–15 exposures before a food is accepted.

Questions
Everything you want to know
My baby is only 3.5 months — is it too early to attend?
Not at all. Attending before you start solids means you'll be fully prepared when the time comes. Most parents wish they had joined a month earlier.
Will there be a recording?
This is a live session designed for real-time interaction and Q&A. We recommend attending live to get the most value, including the chance to ask your specific questions directly.
I already started solids — is this still useful?
Yes. If you're in the early weeks, there's still a lot to cover, including allergens, refusal, and building a routine.
Is this relevant for Indian families?
Completely. Dr. Srimukhi specifically covers Indian foods, family dynamics, and how to navigate traditional advice alongside current guidelines.
How do I get the Zoom link after registering?
